I received this arc from @littlebrown and am so glad that I did. Here is a brief synopsis: 34 year old Gia and her 18 year old son, Joey, have the worst luck with men. When their most recent relationships end due to cheating, Gia & Joey let their heartbreak lead to revenge. When things go array, they now find themselves in a race to escape and figure what happens next. Billed as “Gilmore Girls meets Thelma and Louise” this book had me hooked, laughing, and craving more.

Joey and Gia are hot messes in the best ways possible. They deeply love each other and feed off of each other’s antics. I enjoyed the many pop culture references, the comedic lines, and the lessons Gia and Joey learn. They struggle with feeling worthy of love, a feeling that is real and relatable. The theme of “hurt people hurt people” serves as an undercurrent of the book and you see Gia and Joey learn that they have the power to break the cycle. Just because you’ve been hurt doesn’t excuse the consequences of you hurting others. Life is full of ups and downs, heartbreak and joy. What you do when you’re going through the low points say a lot about you. Ultimately Gia & Joey find out that the sweetest revenge can be picking yourself up and moving on.

I highly recommend this book when it comes out in late May! Pick up a copy for yourself and enjoy this thrilling ride. I can’t wait to see what @nicdidomiziobooks comes up with next.
