Evelyn, the High Priestess all in white from the last book, and Orrin Blackhart, a villain who helped kill the prior king, find themselves in love against all odds. Dealing with the Odium seemed like a nice repentance for him.
I did have a major complaint about this story. I like Elizabeth Vaughan's writing, but the fat shaming in this book, specifically towards one of the main antagonists, was R E L E N T L E S S. So keep that in mind before you read.
