Teach Ye Diligently by Boyd K. Packer
5.0
I have a problem. Any time that I buy a book it takes me forever to finish it. But when I borrow a book from the library, I procrastinate reading it until... it's three days before the due date and it's unrenewable and I crash-read the whole thing in two days.
Such is the case with this book, which I purchased from a little indy-bookstore--the library having discarded their copy because it is "outdated."
I've got news for you. It isn't. Not one bit. In fact, in some ways, it's remarkably prophetic. Full of practical tips on setting up your classroom and other tips like how to see the similarities and differences of the students simultaneously.
You can sense the love and respect that he has for the profession on almost every page. And the advice is good. Especially in this day when teachers are overworked, over critiqued, over overseen(not a typo), and, in some cases, over worshiped.
And, for those of you who think that President Packer was a dry, humorless sort of teacher, I highly recommend the chapter labeled "Humor in Teaching" or something like that.
