It feels wrong giving it a rating...so I'm just going to leave it.

This is loosely based on the author's own life. It is well written and you can really feel Esther's (or Sylvia Plath's) emotions and struggles with depression. It can be a very powerful read. For such a melancholy and depressing book, I really can't say that I enjoyed it, but I don't regret reading it either.

I wouldn't actively recommend this to others, but if this book shows up on your radar, and you know what you are getting into, then I would say it's worth a read.

Would recommend the audiobook narrated by Maggie Gyllenhaal - I thought she did a great job. Without the audiobook, it would've been a lot harder for me to get through this heavy book.
