Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H

emotional funny hopeful inspiring medium-paced

4.0

The queer reading or the Quran as a reading of her own life was super engaging and brought .e into Lamya's story with empathy and curiosity. This book is huge for queer, immigrant, racial, social, and religious politics, so much so in this time. It is so thoughtful and intentional and I appreciate the attention Lamya called to this intentionality (particularly at the end).

The pacing got a little stuck in the middle, but it was never uninteresting.
