My favorite review of this book was someone gave it 5 stars and the entire review was "wtf".  I agree - this has to be the weirdest book I ever enjoyed.  The premise was so unusual I just had to read it.  No regrets - it gallops along with one challenge after another, with lots of mystery, murder and intrigue.  The characters learn more about each other along the way and to trust and love each other in their own very unique ways.  I'm amazed at the imagination of the author, and the world-building is detailed enough that I am convinced that it all makes sense in her mind at least!  And the dialogue - some laugh out loud moments that at the same time revealed so much about Gideon's character.  Really good read if you can be flexible enough to take just the ride and see where it goes.
