Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout

(Reread Review)
Jennifer L Armentrout has a way of breaking my heart and leaving me rocking back and forth in a corner with a “feels” meltdown. And with Elixir she manages do that quite brilliantly. I screamed at Alex, I screamed at Apollo, I screamed at everyone but especially Seth!!! He is and always will be one of my favorite Jla characters, but I so want to punch him reading Elixir! But I will get to that.
This novella happens after Deity and Alex has awakened and she is connected to Seth, and yes, it’s a mess. Elixir it’s in Aiden’s POV, and even if its super awesome to be able to see things from his POV, not only from what is happening at that moment but everything else too, we have glimpses of how he fell in love with Alex and how he suffered pushing her away for her protection and how he restrained himself from going after her, its all so sweet and makes you swoon but then it breaks my heart seeing Aiden suffering with what is happening. Alex went crazy, she is playing team bad guys now and threatening all her friends, they contain her with the help of Apollo and Hephaestus, but they know it won’t last forever. Aiden is desperate to bring her back, and even with everything that Alex does/ says he believes in her, he doesn’t give up on her and its so sweet and the same time heart breaking because nothing works!
I am team Alex with Aiden, for me it never was a love triangle, it was obvious from the beginning that they were meant to be together but Alex does care for Seth it’s not the same, and it’s not supposed to be, but she cares, and I believe, bellow all the shit happening, that Seth does care about Alex. But he is lost and being manipulated and seeing him do this to Alex breaks my heart, makes me scream at my kindle in desperation has in some way the characters, mainly Seth, could hear me (crazy I know, I don’t care). Because Seth is and always will be my favorite in Covenant/Titan, he is in my JLA book boyfriend trinity so yeah this makes me go nuts and have a tantrum.
Add Seth’s shit storm actions and Aiden’s pain seeing the woman he loves completely lost to him, and yeah Elixir is an emotion punch to your heart. Aiden has to do some major hardcore, heartbreaking decisions in this novella, I get why but still, it’s so hard reading those pages because Jen is an amazing writer and you fell Aiden’s guilt and desperation has your own.
So, summarizing, this novella makes you scream, makes you cry but its amazing and I love it!!!
