Crush by Tracy Wolff

Welcome to my newest YA addiction. I've been on a YA reread kick lately and this one just tickled everything I needed for a new to me series.

Kicking off right after - or so we thought - Crave, Grace gets back to the grind of daily life. Only Grace has been absent for months and she has no memory of where she has been or what she has been doing.

Crush helps us understand more of the characters that were introduced in book one, only they are given a greater depth that was lacking. We learned more about the magical species, including a little about some that aren't just at this location. A new form of sport is included and it sounds amazing. I always imagined that the other broomstick flying game would be one of my favourite fantasy games, but this was something else entirely. I just kept imagining Rugby League - but with magic and portals. This book was so much fun and full of action. With the introduction of a new character, I do have to say, I am absolutely in love with them. That cliffhanger also has me by the teeth, so I'm off to start book three.

"Do you trust me?" he asks.
"Of course, but—"
"Do. You. Trust. Me?" he asks again, and in the space between the words—the space between us—are all the things we’ve never said.
"Yes," I whisper, even as my entire body recoils from the hole in the ground he’s made for me.
"Yes?" he asks, his blue eyes a little disbelieving and a lot determined.
