My second Hanya Yanagihara's book after 'A Little Life'. You can't help but draw some inherent similarities between the character's passivity in her stories. However, unlike 'A Little Life' there is no typical coherence here. Thanks to the three parts set in three different timelines. It's almost alarming to witness the evolution of America through Hanya, and the eventual dystopiyan future muddled with pandemics. I've realised that Hanya's writing plays a huge role in my love for her stories than her plotlines.
I liked Part-1, and I was shocked at Part-2. But Part-3 was my favorite. The book is a tale of the journey 'To paradise', that many of us embark upon. Hanya belives that humans doesn't always have to make sense or succeed. It's refreshing and relatable to read something that many of us try hard to ignore. It's reality.
