I Would Leave Me If I Could: A Collection of Poetry by Halsey

5.0

This collection was phenomenal, and I'm so glad that I read it. However, many of the themes hit so close to home that I wondered if I could finish it: Bipolar disorder, sexual assault, substance abuse, allusions to, and outright discussion of, domestic violence. It isn't a book for the faint of heart, but it is agonizingly beautiful. It's devastating and hopeful and tragic and defiant. I had to stand up and walk away from it a couple of times, but then I was right back in my chair.
