The First Crusade: The call from the East by Peter Frankopan

3.0

A short, perfectly serviceable book about the First Crusade. Apparently, Frankopan’s thesis about the main impulses behind the Crusade being the Byzantine emperor and the Pope is unusual, or at least less popular, but I really don’t know enough about the time period to gauge that statement. It all seemed very plausible as I was reading it however.
