Aftermath by Chuck Wendig

4.0

I listened to the audio book of this and it was excellent and entertaining. I know enough to know that this book was controversial and has gotten a lot of hate for several reasons, none of which I think are merited. Wendig expands the Star Wars galaxy through adding diverse characters and effectively using interludes; he shows the chaotic and unsure nature of the galaxy through using the present tense in his storytelling. I'm excited for the other books in this trilogy.

2022 Reread: Interesting to read this in a post-TROS world. This book does some things that many Star Wars books do that personally kind of irritate me, like naming every alien species, even when it's a side character (because it's Star! Wars! You're reading a Star War! Star! WARS!) but it is enjoyable overall.
