Having read several mysteries lately didn't really do this one any favors, as it suffers from a few bad habits common to the genre lately. Many of the problems tied to the mystery could be solved by a simple conversation, an issue I find frustrating in romance and infuriating in mysteries. I also find the "the narrator knows a lot more than they're saying to the audience and will dole out information slowly throughout flashbacks" frustrating as well.

This was slow to start and eventually I got invested enough in it, but so far, I'm disappointed in the list of recently-published mysteries that I've been working my way through.
