A Maze of Death by Philip K. Dick

4.0

The majority of this novel is confusing and weird and all the characters are terrible. Which is kind of the point, because the reveal at the end is what makes the book so great.
Spoiler They've been living in an artificial world of their own making that they use to pass the time
. And while typically the whole "it was all a dream" ending makes me annoyed to no end, here it works brilliantly because that messed up world full of all the weirdness and hatred was what their minds made. Of course then there's the question of: are they actually awake, or is the ship just another level of the simulation?
