The Sanctuary by Katrine Engberg

3.0

Awkwardly translated and frontloaded with red herrings in the form of alternative victims who obviously have no relation to the central mystery and serve no purpose except to possibly illustrate how a real police investigation would proceed in fits and starts. Once we settle on the real story, it meanders from suspect to suspect, but rushes to its conclusion after a surprising twist in the 11th hour. Leaves plot threads dangling, but feels the need to solve another “mystery” that no one asked for.
