This book started off really strong but fell flat in the second half. I thought initial chemistry between Ezra and Ricki was really good, and the dual-timeline situation was intriguing. I wasn’t charmed by the magic/supernatural aspect of the story, and I put together every twist a while before they happened, so it made it hard to trudge through. I also wish there had been some more buildup between the two before they said I love you, etc. and I felt the interaction with Ricki’s sisters towards the end was out of place and a way for us to know that Ezra is A Good Guy™️ because he stood up for Ricki, but I didn’t really need convincing of that. It also felt like the two became a bit melodramatic. I don’t know, after a while I just had a hard time feeling actually lost in the story of it.
