The Blue Between Sky and Water by Susan Abulhawa

5.0

Extraordinarily beautiful and heartbreaking. It poignantly weaves an insightful narrative of the Palestinian oppression while also baring the defiant spirit of humanity and man's seemingly miraculous capacity to preserve love and carve out little joys in the midst of cruelty.

It paints us the harsh realities of people who have fallen prey to decades-long oppression, yet it also thoughtfully reminds us to humanize them as they are: people with their own sets of dreams, wisdom, and character--all made more beautiful with the poetical hand of the author.
