I have been waiting to read this book for a while and was excited to jump in. This was my first book by Abby jimenez and she did not disappoint.
SIMPLISTICALLY, this book is a workplace, friends-ish to lovers romance between two ER doctors, Briana and Jacob. The two MC’s are each struggling greatly in their personal lives and the plot is heavily wrapped around those issues which is something that gripped me from the very beginning. I really loved getting the dual POV of Briana and Jacob. It made it so easy to connect to both of them as individuals and really root for their HEA.
While I did really enjoy the entire plot and loved all of the characters, I did have trouble with some of the added conflict and mis/lack of communication between the 50-80% mark. For me, the MC’s started to feel immature for their ages and it felt like the character growth stopped for a bit too long. But it did eventually pick up again in the last 10-15% of the story.
This book touches on some heavier topics that I really appreciated and created a unique love story that I haven’t seen before in a romance. I read it in one day and overall did enjoy it.
