Blindness by José Saramago

5.0

The horror. The book deals with some really grueling issues. Without a doubt, this will take some time to digest. I really liked (if that's a proper word to describe the feeling) a comparison between blindness/blind people and the Holocaust. The scenes of blind internees stumbling out of an empty mental hospital to retrieve a lifeless body, so they can bury it, is now forever imprinted in my mind (along with about 7 other crushing episodes in the novel).
