OMG THE BETRAYALLLL!!!!! And who knows when the answer (aka the rest of the series) will ever come. So I'll be left agonizing in sadness and tears. I loved Lana, her compassion, her ability to love all (friends or otherwise) because of her blood connection to them as a healer, her tendency to believe the best in people, her capacity to love. The list goes on and I think she is one of the most endearing characters I've ever read, so no wonder Asher started falling for her too. Too bad he has too much hate in his heart he can't let go of. But that makes sense to because if you've been set on vengeance ever since your daughter and wife dies due to another species, that goal that has consumed your life, can't just easily vanish in a few days. There were so many raw moments and cute interactions in this book. However, I am confused how they're ALL so afraid of one human though.... Also why does he have so much knowledge of their kind (just sprouting out major affinities and minor affinities like he teaches this subject haha)?? Lastly, I definitely think something is off about Lana's king. What secret is he holding to himself???
