The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid

3.0

2.5 to 3 stars = a bit disappointed

For me, it was the writing. I couldn't connect with the way the author wrote. Now, I'm no awesome writer, as you can see, but there are some authors that I can really connect with. Whether it's the way they structure their sentences, or the words they use, or a myriad of other things, I'm not sure. But when it strikes a chord with me, I know it. This author's writing felt stiff and a bit too forced for my tastes. Some of the characters would say things that sounded more like a textbook than a passionate appeal.

Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't connect, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked. The concept was amazing, even if the plot was a bit cliché at times. As you can see by the other reviews, a lot of people enjoyed this book, but it just wasn't for me. Writing styles are one of those things that entirely depend on the reader and their own personal tastes.

Summary: Wasn't for me, but don't let that stop you from giving this book a try.
