Did not finish book. Stopped at 14%.

There is so much exposition dumping that it's like the plot took a laxative. 

Good God. This is probably one of the worst books I have every read, and I only got 14% into it. I wish I could scrub the memory of this book from my brain. 

I don't like or care about the characters. 99% of the book is just the author explaining their entire backstories, likes and dislikes, fears, and current circumstances. I don't think the author ever learned 

"show, don't tell." 

I'll insert some notes I took while I was reading: 

"The place looked like a courthouse, or a bank, or some other place where money changed hands." What the hell is this writing?? 

"Every now and then, Libby achieved a look that successfully withered his balls." 

SERIOUSLY WHAT THE HELL IS THIS WRITING?? 

Am I correct in understanding that one character is 1/2 mermaid, 1/2 saytr?? And he looks human be of Punnett squares?
