Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou

5.0

after watching the Hulu series, i feel like this book did a better job getting into Elizabeth’s and Sunny’s motivations and end goals and i just want to say that they were sympathized a lot in the tv show. they are worse in real life.

tldr for my thoughts is that Elizabeth knew what she was doing and to say otherwise is laughable.

Mona, the head of HR in the book, is a truly awful person that parallels the level of bad Elizabeth and Sunny are on, so imagine my surprise when i see on linkedin that she’s employed at GOOGLE?? she harassed Erika Cheung when she was leaving the office after quitting and dug through her backpack and took her personal things??

Sunny hired a bunch of indians on h1b visas bc they have to stay employed to stay in the country and he took full advantage of it. they either had to feed his ego and be yes-men or get fired.

also — Fuisz might have helped take down Theranos but he is by no means a good person, nor are most of the people in this book honestly, other than the whistleblowers.

will post an updated review with quotes soon.
