Diary of a Tokyo Teen: A Japanese-American Girl Travels to the Land of Trendy Fashion, High-Tech Toilets and Maid Cafes by Christine Mari Inzer

3.0

This was a pleasant read, making me want to travel, especially now in 2021 when I can’t. The author does a wonderful job of exposing the intricacies of Japan, allowing readers to learn and experience the different places that she documented with her words, illustrations, and pictures. This was truly a unique book, and I look forward to finding others like it.

I give it 3 stars because I think it could’ve undergone another round of revisions to really tighten up the book and to give it a more cohesive thread to run throughout. I enjoyed the meandering style, but I sensed that it could’ve been more purposeful. Also, the book could use more editing, as I found several errors throughout, but that’s not always the author’s fault.
