Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God, by Francis Chan, Chris Tomlin, Danae Yankoski

emotional hopeful informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

5.0

I highly recommend this book to anyone who claims Christianity! Francis Chan reminds us of the crazy kind of love we are supposed to have for those around us. He calls out those of us who just "check the boxes" and reminds us that God never intended for Christianity to be that simple.
In fact, when you are truly in love with God, you can't help but share the good news. You can't help but to tell people about Him. The little things don't matter, because you have the Big Guy on your side.
One other thing that really needed to be mentioned is how privileged American Christians have become. And he nails it spot on. We get so caught up in the types of music, and how comfortable we are that we forget what important. That's sharing the Gospel.
God doesn't really care how comfortable your backside is while you sit in your air conditioned building listening to the music you want to. He cares when you get up and get out there and share His good news. The Bible never says Christianity will be easy, it says it will be so very different from everything else around us.
We have to go against the flow just the way Noah did when he built a giant boat for this magical thing called "rain" that had never happened before. We are called to give to those in need, not hoard our money so we can get the fancy cars and go to the expensive concerts.
This is one of my biggest struggles, and has been for a long time. Seeing privileged, entitled Americans complaining when most of the world (I believe it's 80% or 90%) live off of less than $5 a day. This is also convicting for me because I've been in that place as well.
To end my soap box, this book is an amazing read! And you need to read it. Obviously, if you're not a Christian, most of it probably won't make sense. But you can always read it as well and feel free to reach out with questions! I'm not all knowing by any means, but I'll answer to the best of my knowledge!
I pray that I have this crazy kind of love we are called to, and I pray that those around me see it.
