I would say this book is a very middle tier book as far as elsie silver books go. I definitely enjoyed reading it, but i feel like him jumping into dadhood in the beginning so quickly was really odd. Like he simply took everything the child said and ran with it without a second thought. It felt like he didn’t really have any true internal conflict about it all, which just felt really unnatural/inorganic.
That aside, the book was really cute! Thank god she checked him for his privilege by the end because it was getting wildly irritating that he kept implying he came from nothing lol(i know that’s dramatic but it was giving nepo baby actors saying “i got this job all on my own, my famous director dad absolutely had no effect on me getting a starring role in my first movie ever!!!”).
Like I sad, it’s definitely not down in the bottom tier elsie silver books(looking at you powerless), but it’s not up there with the best.
