Ghosts by Dolly Alderton

While this.book had some flaws (particularly I found with the dialogue), it was an extremely enjoyable fast paced read, with a pretty likable protagonist and themes and emotions that were relatable as a female reader. I enjoyed the fact that while in part it was a contemporary novel about online dating and romantic relationships, it also explored the varying roles that friends play in you life.

I liked that it was a novel that explored a lot of ideas about love and it's conception and projection, while also being a fun story to read. I was also glad to be reading a modern novel that wasn't turning into erotica in the first two chapters.... However, this all came to an end by the final few chapters, which felt kind of a shame - what was a text that was holding up a bit of integrity, collapsed in the final 30 pages when of course the female protagonist has to have a one night stand with the neighbour that has only provoked fear in her through the whole text. For me, this left the novel with a bitter taste of "I liked this book as much as I was expected to."
