Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart

4.0

I don't know why it has taken me so long to read this. I need the sequel, immediately. It certainly took me for a ride. I will say that it was a little predictable; there was a slightly overused trope in there that I saw coming about halfway through the book. That being said, I was still sucked into this book very quickly, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I didn't want to put it down at all.

Minor spoiler alert, but not necessarily for this book. Possibly this one, definitely for other unrelated books.

Spoiler Alright, so first off, I was very intrigued by the concept of the heir choosing three women to be his Graces. I thought that was super unique, but the synopsis of the book does not include that the Graces are essentially concubines, in a way. So after finishing this book, I thought immediately of another book that had a very similar circumstance. (Looking at you, Paper Girls.) This book came out at least a year ahead of the other one I'm thinking of, but I read the other one first, so... Comparisons were made. There were definitely not any situations like that in this one, thankfully. The other thing that got me was the complete subjugation of women. My mind, halfway through this review, started comparing to an ebook that I read on kindle several years ago about a society divided by a river, one side ruled by men and the other side ruled by women..... I definitely liked this one a lot better though. I feel like the ideas were much better thought out and just an all around better book.
