At first, I didn’t like this book. It’s very slow going for most of it. However, as I got to the end I began to recognize that it’s actually a very good representation of dissociation from anxiety/depression/hopelessness. A good portrait of how mental illness begins to invade someone’s psyche, then isolates them. I appreciated that it was written with the present timeline interspersed with fragments of memories and short moments because it showed how disjointed it can be to cope with feeling meaningless and confused.
The very last page ended on such a light, delightful note too.
