The Sight and Fire-Bringer were some of my favorite books when I was in high school. I don't know if they would still hold up upon re-read, but I remember thinking they were engaging with interesting philosophical ideas about animal minds and nature. I don't know if this book was simply not as good as The Sight or if my reading tastes have changed - I didn't go back and re-read anything before grabbing this one from the library. Overall it was fine but I did find myself just scanning through sections, and I wasn't particularly interested in the human side of the story.
