Ficciones by Jorge Luis Borges

4.0

While I appreciated the first half of the book, most of those stories went over my head. However, I kept going, determined to make sense of the labyrinthine loopy writing, and I was not disappointed when I finally reached the last story of part one, “The Garden of Forking Paths,” which had a clearer narrative and much different in style to the previous stories. That story and those of part 2 were highly enjoyable or maybe I had just gotten used to the fantastical setups by that point. Overall the book demonstrated different facets of Borges as a writer - at times frustrating and outright bizarre but also whimsically thought-provoking.
