This was a book that, though small, holds a lot. If you have lost someone and your little one is having issues with the loss and/or being without them for the upcoming holidays. I highly recommend looking at this book.
The whole book is centered around Eden and her cat Ellie. They are about to experience the winter holidays, after losing someone special. One of the things I liked about this book is that although the message centers around loss, and missing someone the characters loved. It is not sad, and is actually full of good ideas to help. That and the fact the book doesn't say who was lost. Which made it appropriate for all.
I loved how easy it was to read this story. You can see the character’s feelings, without it causing you to feel sad as well. It also helps that there are a couple activities in the story. At the end there's even a little how to and a “Dear Loved One” letter you can write.
I was surprised at the end to see that there was a letter at the end for the adults reading the book. I thought it was kind and heartwarming. When reading it I could see how it would help an adult to remember kids feel the same as us. But sometimes I need help with their emotions. This was also done in a caring loving way.
All in all I was extremely impressed with the Wallace’s book “Christmas Is Not The Same". Which is why I’m giving it a 5/5 rating. And why I am thankful for Autumn sharing it with me.
