The Second Mango by Shira Glassman

Short and sweet. I liked all the characters, but the plot was more flashbacks and explanations than any current action. This meant character growth had already happened and just needed to be discovered, as well as relationships aside from the main friendship were all flashbacks. Most of the talks about relationships and issues also felt a lot like trying to educate the reader that these were things people experienced and defending them, rather than letting them be natural parts of the character. The worldbuilding was really quite great, as were the characters themselves, but the execution was really lacking.
