I just realized that I never got around to writing an actual review for this book - whoops! I mean, I did give it 5 stars, which for me is pretty unheard of, so there's that. :)
First and foremost, no matter how good a book is, how great its characters, how interesting the plot, or how engaging the premise, if the writing style isn't there, the book isn't going to make it. This author has got skills. She's witty, sharp, and most importantly, engaging. So many humorous turns interwoven with real emotionally charged moments struck a beautiful balance. You can't help but root for Meg and Danny, and the way the author masterfully portrays both party's thoughts and feelings really kept the story from feeling one sided.
I snickered out loud reading this in bed, multiple times I laughed so hard I woke the dog up - thank goodness DH sleeps like a rock! This was my first outing with author Kristen Bailey, but I definitely look forward to reading more from her.
