“Sometimes the point is to be sad, August. Sometimes you just have to feel it because it deserves to be felt.”

“Big dick energy is gender-neutral”

“Because you got what you need. And sometimes, the universe has your back.”

I loved this romance. It was such a fun read. While the romance was lovely, I think I enjoyed the found family aspect to be the best part of this book. The romance was cute and adorable but was just the slightest bit insta-lovey which is never my favorite. I think the only reason it didn't bother me as much as it usually does is because of the supernatural aspects it. It made the insta-love easier to believe since otherworldly forces were at work. The only other thing that genuinely bothered me was that August was able to completely give up all of her obligations (work and school) for weeks and weeks, yet she was still able to easily catch up in her classes and keep her job. I think I struggled with that plot point because there was not otherworldly way to explain it away. People just let August do whatever she wanted and continually gave her the benefit of the doubt.

But I still really loved August and Jane as characters and the found family was literal perfection. Everyone needs a Niko in their life and Myla was hilarious. I loved how angsty Wes was and hope that McQuiston writes an entire novel about him and Isaiah.
