I receive a copy of Shadow By Despair for an honest review.
This is the 3rd book in the series and follows Perin and Tavarra.
Perin wakes up after then end of the second book to discover that he's not the person he was before. He decides to go find the stone of desire and ask for help.
The stone of Desire gives Perin a task for his favour. While preparing for his journey, he meets up with Tavarra and her Jovkin companion. Perin deals with his new nature while trying to keep his friends safe and navigate the waters and land protecting his goal.
This is a new take on the Zombie idea. Told as though Perin is patient 0, although transmission is never really discussed. It was an enjoyable book and the series has a unique twist to the usual vampire/zombie troupe.
There are a couple of steamy parts, nothing that a mature YA couldn't handle. It's not fade away, you know where things are going but gritty details are sparse.
