The Future of an Illusion by Sigmund Freud

challenging informative medium-paced

3.0

Sold as an essay on faith but achieves much more than that, covering class, culture, psychology and of course, faith. My opinion as an atheist is biased, however I found Freuds arguments to be compelling and insightful. I can’t say that I particularly ‘learnt’ anything from the work, the ideas rather delved into concepts that I already believed, nevertheless it was enjoyable to have the studies and thoughts written in such a clear way that I went away from this feeling more versed on the subject and enabled by my already-formed opinions.
