My opinion of this book is not at all objective, it just holds a very special place in my heart. Aside from that personal story it’s attached to, it’s just brilliant. It’s dark, it’s important and it’s about language. Who wouldn’t love that? Essentially Kuang managed to put all of the thoughts that I ever had about language and translation into words, for example that  every language is based on its own ways of thinking and concepts, for which there can be no precise translation in another language. love love love
