Rising Strong by Brené Brown
3.0
12/27/19 This was the year of rereading everything Brene Brown, and it has been a wonderful if not totally an emotionally draining experience. Be brave, put yourself out there, be authentic, stay curious, sit in the discomfort, get ready to rumble. This is probably the hardest of the books I had to get through but it is also the most important call to action I think she has written. Dare to Lead and Daring Greatly are both inspiring, and call on you to change and grow in ways that are uncomfortable and challenging, but Rising Strong is the real work of getting back up when we are knocked down. If you could only reread one of her books, this would be the one to keep coming back to.
06/16/17 Often in movies the time a protagonist spends overcoming a setback or rising to a challenge is a series of images in a montage. Brene gives some wonderful examples of how we try to skip over this period in our own lives by quickly moving past it without really examining what is happening in our minds or hearts. Excellent examples, wonderful story telling, inspiring content.
