Profound reportage about farmers in 19-20th century in Poland with emphasis on women’s situation. Lots of raw material, short interviews and pieces of memoirs. It’s not exhaustive, as the conditions for Silesian people for example were vastly different, but it’s a welcome piece of literature that aims to de-romanticise polish rural life. Warning for depictions of traumatic events (SA, violence).
