Poor Catherine, how can one person surround herself with such selfishness and not even realize it.
However her character took a slight turn for the better/stronger after she said
"If I could not be persuaded into doing what I thought wrong, I never will be tricked into it."
As most books you will love some characters and dislike others, and the Thorps are so easy to dislike.
I loved this book,
