The Wanderground by Sally Miller Gearhart

3.5

A hard book to review because everything I didn’t particularly enjoy about it was something that also felt intrinsic to the book’s message — a message I appreciate.  This was certainly a sci-fi with a complicated vocabulary, which I always find jarring, and requires a certain level of attention.  The unconventional story structure and the lack of closure seemed part of the book’s feminist politics, but as a reader I still ultimately felt frustrated and found myself continually asking “okay, so then what happened?”  Complicated!
