The Danish Way of Parenting: What the Happiest People in the World Know about Raising Confident, Capable Kids by Iben Sandahl, Jessica Joelle Alexander

informative inspiring fast-paced

2.0

The idea behind the book -analysing parenting from a cultural perspective - is great, but it really fell short in its execution. The 'Danish way of Parenting' is summarised using the acronym 'Parent' and, while I appreciate this might make it easier for the reader to remember what the elements of Danish parenting are, I don't think this adds anything to the book, if anything it gives the impression that the Danish approach to parenting was incredibly oversimplified.
And what's with the authors referring to themselves in the third person?

I appreciate the book most likely deserves more than I gave it, and that I've probably been harsh in judging it as I subconsciously compared to another book who does a cross-cultural analysis of parenting taking another country as reference and that I found exceptional in concept and execution...too bad for the authors.
