This book was a second chance romance with the setting of a (potentially) haunted property. I’m not a big fan of second chance romance because it is usually rooted in miscommunication. I was pleasantly surprised that that was not the case this time. Don’t get me wrong, there is still plenty of miscommunication in this book. But it isn’t completely why this couple didn’t work to begin with. I enjoyed the haunted property setting. The creepy doll absolutely will be featured in my nightmares. I didn’t like the male main character, Jack.
To me, he wasn’t redeemed by the end of the book. He willfully lied throughout the book to the point that I wouldn’t be able to trust him if I were Emma.
Overall, I liked the story, but not really the romance. I will try more books from this author.
