The Midnight Twins by Jacquelyn Mitchard

2.0

While Jackie Mitchard is one of my favorite authors, as an adult, I just couldn't get into this novel. Some ya books are equally appealing to adults, but this is not one of them. The story is about twins born on different days - one on new years eve and the other on new years day. After a fire on their 13th birthday, one develops the ability to see the future while the other can see the past in dreams. As a ya novel, they are focused on one singular problem, a boy who is threatening animals and girls and appears to be a sociopath of some kind. I would recommend this book for young adults, but not for adults. The story is a bit too plodding and predictable to really keep my interest. The ending was a bit trite and the final chapter too neatly tied up to interest me in reading the sequels.
