It's Not Summer Without You, by Jenny Han

4.0

I upped my rating for this trilogy. It’s great that this second installment slightly focuses on romantic side. I love that Jenny Han centered on family ,friend love, their importance to each other, and the beach house. It was a fast read, it only took me three hrs to be done with this. It was like watching a movie.

I am glad that Belly slowly learned her mistakes. She also became aware of her emotions and personality.

Still, I don’t know who to ship. I did not like Conrad in the first book. He’s too scared and always too late. Belly mentioned that Conrad always win if he sets his mind on it. Well, he definitely did not set his mind on Belly. Also true, that there are more important things to think of other than their love story (which I was really glad that it was mentioned in this book)

It’s funny that this novel is against with itself. Like, it debunk its own feelings, opinion, and conclusion.

Aside from that, YAZZ THE OUTSIDE POV i have wanted has been given. Not exactly outside (or third person) but at least from Jeremiah. He’s still that guy who always go for it in the end to confuse Belly just like what he did in the 1st book. Just throw bombs here and there without any warning. Well, who does throw bombs with warnings anyway?

Overall, while I read this, my heart is constricting and i swear all over. I keep hurting for Belly. She’s really a masochist. And I am glad with what happened at the end but.... I did not know where that came from. It was all to sudden LOL. They happened to focus with their beach house issue then BOOM now, let’s go with their love triangle. Still, gonna read the third book cuz I am also a masochist. Oww also I want to mention that I find it funny that she is still friend with Taylor. They are on and off 😂

I just found out this song recently after reading the book. This greatly describe the relationship between Conrad and Belly.

Mixed Signals by Ruth B.

“You tell me to get lost and that you're done
I see it in your eyes, you wanna run
But I know, you know, that I'm the only one”

“... Mixed signals, mixed signals
They're killing me
I don't know what you want
But I know what I need”

And this is the most exact part (especially at the prom)

“ I don't know why I love you
I don't know why I stay
I don't know if its worth the pain
But even when you slam the door and drive away
I still set the table for two
Babe, you know I'm waiting on you
To buy me a bouquet, tell me we're okay
And that you're so so sorry
And I believe you every time
But I can't lie, these”
