Moon Over Soho by Ben Aaronovitch
3.0
Another magic police procedural in much the same vein as the first one, except this time there's some awkward romance shoe-horned in that is too telltale in its outcome due to the nature and structure of the book. Aaronovitch seems not quite certain how to juggle dual story lines, clumsily trying to tie them together while also trying to resolve only one of them so that the other may spill over into the next book.
This is entertaining stuff, and Aaronovitch is effectively fleshing out his cast and making them more endearing, but it's not expertly constructed. Plus the man really should curb his Doctor Who references. We get it.
