The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

dark emotional hopeful inspiring fast-paced

5.0

I was never a huge fan of Britney Spears growing up, but I was captivated by this memoir. Anyone can see that growing up with that kind of fame is hard. The societal pressure that is put on celebrities is unimaginable - never mind growing up with that. Becoming famous as a kid sounds like a nightmare, and man did Britney live through a nightmare a million times over.

This memoir just highlights how strong she is. I respect her faith and admire her courage to not only stand up for herself but then to live through it all again to write this book. This book was short, to the point, and really packs a punch. I think it would have been too much for her to read this book herself and Michelle Williams did it a huge justice as narrator. So much of her live was speculative and the narrative was controlled by everyone except her. It's refreshing and heartbreaking to finally hear her side of the story.
