Daddy by K.M. Neuhold, Nora Phoenix

I loved the Ballsy Boys series so much that I was a little nervous that the spinoff series wouldn't be as amazing. I should have known better. Nora and Kyleen have written the sweetest Daddy/boy romance and I absolutely loved it. While this series is about a kinky porn studio, this book was definitely more about developing a deep emotional connection than exploring BDSM or kinky sex. Joey and Hunter only have penetrative sex a couple of times near the end of this book. I usually prefer books where characters form an emotional bond before having sex, and it felt very realistic that Joey wasn't ready to go "all the way" when he was still figuring out what he wanted. I think that even if this book had no penetrative sex--if Joey decided that wasn't what he wanted or liked--it still would have been an incredible romance. Hunter's need to protect, care for, and treasure his boy was beautiful to read about. I think that even people who don't usually like kinky romance will fall in love with these two men.

In addition to the fluffy sweetness of Hunter and Joey's relationship, I also really appreciated that these two don't fit the mold of what a "traditional" Daddy and boy are. Joey isn't tiny, young, or twinky, and it doesn't matter. Joey's age and build aren't a source of angst in this book because to Hunter, Joey is perfect as he is. I wish more authors would write about diverse characters so that I don't even have to comment about how this is different from what I usually read.

Outside of the romance, I thought this book had a very compelling plot line. I was so curious about why Hunter left New York and what was going to happen with Joey's family. I was hoping to get a better idea of who else got hired for the new studio, but Nora and Kyleen were very sneaky! I feel like I only got tiny hints about whose stories will be told next, and I can't wait!
