Halen is a crime scene investigator who has just come off a case where she accused someone of murder in a courtroom, and he was sent to an asylum. When she is sent to a new crime scene, she decides to enlist the help of the man she just sent away, because Kallum was a professor and expert on Nietzsche and the occult. The entire premise is bonkers and unrealistic. Kallum gets away and is basically given free rain to do as he pleases anyway. Halen keeps making dumb choices. The smut isn’t even that hot. This whole book just felt pretentious. I was thoroughly confused for like 80% of it. It needed less literary debate and more plot.
